The Tokyo Giants present the irresistible feel good rhythms of James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and Stevie Wonder - the powerful and sophisticated edge of Chicago - the syncopation of Earth, Wind and Fire. Also inspired by the Blues Brothers and the Commitments, the Giants' lively blend of R & B, blues and roots music has had audiences literally dancing in the street since 1995 at Toronto's Beaches Jazz Festival.
The band features dual lead singers. Brian Fukuzawa's blues edged and earthy lead vocal style energizes the catchy, danceable sounds. Nina Richmond brings a melodic and soulful depth to the band's classic tunes.
The vocals are anchored by a mean rhythm section and punched up with a solid, hard working horn contingent. Together, they give the band the great powerful sound that audiences respond so well to.
